How's everyone? 😊 I felt like this past week came by sooo fast and this will be my last email from MTC cos I'm flying to Hong Kong next week Monday! I AM SUPER EXCITED! Finally!! My 9 weeks here is almost done! Hahaha.

Updates/Highlights from last week:

June 12th Tuesday -

Happy Independence Day, Philippines! Haha... 🇵🇭 Me and my companion had a lunch meeting with Sister Rahlf (2nd counselor of RS MTC Presidency). She asked us to be the panels for "Match His Message" training for the new missionaries about Dress and Grooming Standards... Tuesday Evening Devotional - we sang Nearer My God to Thee. The speakers were Sister and Elder K. Brett Nattress (of the Seventy). Elder Nattress asked a very good question: How did you come to know that Jesus is the Christ? And what scripture helped you know that He Lives?.. He used Matthew 22 - What think ye of Christ... He also used the talk of Pres. Nelson from the past devotional for the youth... The he shared the story of Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley while he was on his mission, that he wrote a letter to his dad telling him that he cannot do this and he's really striving that time but his dad replied "Be not afraid, only believe." (Mark 5:36).. I know that I have to do the same thing. Even though it'll be a roller coaster ride when I'm in the actual field but I'll "forget myself and go to work" 😊

June 13th Wednesday -

Got sick (fever, colds, sore throat) 😭 so I had to stay in our residence for the whole day.

June 14th Thursday -

Photo: Learned how to write some Chinese/Cantonese sentences -
I am Aū Jímuih. I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I love to eat food.
Felt much better now than yesterday. 😊 So in the morning, me and my companion taught a lesson (in Cantonese of course) to the supervisor of the Chinese speaking teachers haha. She went to BYU-Hawaii too and we used to work together so I know her very well. She said it was a good lesson 😊 She did role play so she acted as an investigator. We taught her about God's love for all His children then we read 2 Nephi 26:33. I totally felt the spirit when we were teaching her.. then today in class, we learned how to write some Chinese characters and it was really cool and fun! In the afternoon, we taught [someone people] about Law of Chastity today and [also] about Fasting.

June 15th Friday -

Video: The district receiving travel plans (we're so awkward)

It's our district's Christmas day! We got our flight plans which made us more exciteeeed! WE ARE ACTUALLY LEAVING LOL CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING SOON HAHA and I'll be in Hong Kong next week!! 😊.. In class, we read Alma 5 had a discussion about it... Then for our investigator lesson, we continued teaching about [Chastity] and he asked about abortion and the one child policy in China (which we totally forgot) so we didn't know what to answer him but we said that he should pray and seek for a personal revelation to receive answers.

June 16th Saturday -

Photo: Chinese characters for Genesis 1-11

Today in class, our teacher discussed Genesis 1-11 using Chinese characters and it was awesome and we're mind blown! Haha. It's amazing how the Chinese characters can testify of the Creation / Fall / Cain and Abel / Noah / Tower of Babel.

June 17th Sunday -

Photo: Sunday District Pics

In our branch leadership training, we talked about the different characteristics of what a leader should be. * He/She must have integrity * Leaders have the ability of getting things done and have their expertise (as a missionary, we should be experts in teaching and finding people haha) * Leaders are master communicators. He/She knows how to convey messages in an extraordinary effective manner and know also how to motivate others.... At 2:30pm, we did the "Match His Message" training today. Me and my companion taught the new sister missionaries about the Dress and Grooming Standards and how we should always remember who we represent through our clothing and appearance.  For Sunday Evening Devotional, Sister and President Gilbert (1st Counselor of MTC Presidency) talked about the importance of the Plan of Salvation / Plan of Happiness.. We sang primary songs tonight as part of their talk. 😊 We sang: I Lived in Heaven.. My Heavenly Father Loves Me.. Dare to do Right.. Gethsemane.. I am a Child of God.. I'm Trying to be like Jesus.  I am really grateful of having the knowledge of His plan and I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who wants all of His children to come back to His presence someday. As a missionary, I know that I have this privilege to help Him gather His children and help them return to His presence someday.

June 18th Monday -

Léih hóu!

Sending you my mass email now cos I had a long day! We went to the Temple Square and had a tour today (You'll see all the pics hehe). 😊 How's everyone?

Updates/Highlights from last week:

Monday June 4 -

Did our first Skype TRC today and it was fun! 😊 We shared a message to a member who's actually in Hong Kong. We talked about how does Priesthood blessed our lives and why is Priesthood important.

Pictures: Chips care package received last Monday (June 4)!

Tuesday June 5 -

In class, we practice teach about Family History and showed our pedigree chart / family tree.. For Tuesday Evening Devotional, the  speakers were Sister Gong and Elder Gong of the 12 apostles. Elder Gong shared about four gospel truths:
* A blessing of the restoration of the gospel is the reality of a living prophet.
* Our covenant path gives us purpose and meaning of life
* Heavenly Father inspires, guides, and protects us as we seek promptings of the Holy Ghost
* The Divine calling of Prophet Joseph Smith

Pictures: Welcoming the new Sister Missionaries! (June 6)

Wednesday June 6 -

Welcomed the new missionaries in our zone! 😊 We have 2 new districts yaaay and 5 missionaries are Cantonese speaking! So we're (me and my companion) not alone anymore lol... In class, our teacher discussed about Luke 15. He said there are four ways to read the scriptures and he challenged us to do this every time we read a parable. The four ways are (Know the):

  • Moral/Ethical
  • Allegorical
  •  Literal/Historical/Cultural
  • Anagogical

After class, we had an in-person TRC (real investigator). She's from China but her family moved to Australia and she's here now to study English. Since she's from China, she doesn't know how to speak Cantonese so we taught her a lesson in English haha (and it was kinda weird for me to teach in English cos I got used to teaching in Cantonese now lol but I still felt the Spirit). We shared about The Restoration and Moroni 10:3-5.

Thursday June 7 -

Sad day for me and my companion today 😭 The TRC Supervisor said we cannot teach our new investigator anymore because we're not using our mission language (Cantonese) to teach her 😭

Pictures: Views of the Salt Lake City Temple (June 11)

Friday June 8 -

Practice teach about Atonement. 😊

Saturday June 9 -

Our 2nd investigator finally said YES to our baptismal invitation. Happy day!

Pictures: Temple Square Trip! (June 11)

Sunday June 10 -

Sunday Evening Devotional speakers were Sister and President Priday. President Priday emphasized the importance of the Book of Mormon. He said we should:

  • Follow Moroni's challenge (to ask God if the Book of Mormon is true)
  • Mark all reference of Deity
  • Use Book of Mormon as your primary source for teaching investigators
  • Make it a primary goal that your investigator will read the Book of Mormon daily

After the devotional, we watched "Mountain of the Lord" for our Sunday film viewing. I am grateful for the sacrifices/service of the pioneers on building the Salt Lake Temple (and other temples). I totally felt the Spirit while we were watching the film.

Monday June 11 -

Went to Temple Square with the international missionaries. 😊

Pictures: Inside many buildings during our trip. (June 11)

That's my Week 7. See y'all next week! Have a great week everyone! 😊
